Funding Update and Next Steps for our First Project
Hi everyone,
You may remember us sharing that we expect to see a few bumps in the road, and we'll bring you with us...
It's bumpy road time!
Transparency is really important to us in Conformity Games, so we want to extend that transparency to our readers too.
Here's everything that has happened and where we are currently standing.
A few months ago, we applied to the UKGF (UK Games Fund) for their Starter Fund.
The Starter Fund is up to £20,000 that goes towards supporting a newly formed studio, to help with costs like hiring developers to help build games, business support, pitching and connections, a lot!
The money from the Starter Fund would have gone towards us hiring a few developers to do the cool things we need help with, such as:
VFX (make cool effects in game)
Audio (improve/overhaul current sounds and make it awesome)
QA (help us find all the pesky bugs and how we can improve mechanics)
UI (eliminate all janky UI and replace it with a better design)
Everything we've made in our first game has so far been usable for us, but we would like these specific roles hired as we know this is our weaker points that need reinforcing to make an even better first game.
Months of waiting have gone by, and we have finally received the decision on our UKGF fund application,
which was... we were rejected.
(Sad developer noises)
Is it disappointing? yes.
Does it stop us? No!
We're continuing development on our first game, but this does mean we need to do everything a little bit faster than anticipated… 👀
So what happens now?
Our hopes haven't been completely cracked as we are hard boiled, so nothing huge is changing.
When we first decided to create Conformity Games, we knew our first game would be the hardest to develop, market, and release as it would be the first time doing this outside a larger company.
Our budget of £0 with yolks hopes and dreams remains the same, so it's business as usual!
We are going to continue working on our first game; we just need to announce it a lot sooner than expected and prepare for game release...
We're scrambling to get our Steam Page cooked and ready to share, to start collecting wishlists! 🌠
Bump 1, successfully navigated ✅
Thanks everyone for joining us on this journey so far, and look out for our first game announcement coming VERY soon!
